A young couple who disappeared after leaving a party in Uberlândia, Brazil, were later found dead inside their submerged vehicle, leaving their families devastated.
The victims were identified as Ingrid Gabriela Bezerra Nunes, 26, and Mário Batista Rios, 23. The couple had reportedly attended a gathering in the Chácaras Valparaíso area before leaving the location by car at around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 14.
The couple vanished after leaving the party
According to witnesses, Ingrid and Mário were last seen alive as they left the party together in a black Volkswagen Golf.
When the couple failed to return or make contact, relatives and friends became increasingly concerned and began searching for them.
During the search, family members discovered what appeared to be signs of a possible traffic accident near a reservoir, including tire tracks, skid marks and parts of the vehicle.
Their car was discovered underwater

Monday evening, June 15, emergency crews began searching the reservoir.
Divers eventually located the vehicle approximately 12 meters from the shore and around three meters below the surface. Both Ingrid and Mário were found inside the car.
The recovery operation was difficult because the water was dirty and visibility underwater was extremely limited. Specialized divers worked to retrieve the victims and secure the vehicle. The operation continued into Tuesday morning.
Investigators are still trying to determine what happened
Initial evidence has pointed toward a possible traffic accident, but authorities have not yet established exactly why the vehicle left the road and entered the reservoir.
Investigators reportedly found braking marks and tire tracks near the water. Parts of the vehicle, including its bumper and license plate, were also found on the dry ground.
Authorities are examining the vehicle and waiting for forensic and medical reports to determine the precise circumstances of
the deaths.
One report also noted that the vehicle was found in fourth gear and that a cooler containing alcoholic beverages was inside. However, there has been no official confirmation that alcohol caused or contributed to the crash, so that should not be presented as established fact.
