I Was Teased Throughout School – At Our 10-Year Reunion, Nobody Recognized Me, so I Took Advantage of It

Ashley stared into her drink.

Madison continued anyway.

“She was basically our class mascot for awkward.”

I felt something cold settle inside me.

Not anger.

Not embarrassment.

Clarity.

“What was she like?” I asked.

Madison lit up immediately.

“Oh, tragic. Braces. Frizzy hair. Always nervous. You barely had to say anything and she’d panic.”

Ashley shifted in her chair.

“We were awful.”

Madison rolled her eyes.

“It was high school.”

“No,” I said quietly. “Not everybody experienced it the same way.”

She narrowed her eyes.
