I caught my husband sleeping with my brother’s wife, so I quietly swapped the lubricant in his bag for industrial glue.

“My name is Evelyn Vance. I founded this company.”

Arthur reached for the laptop.

Brandon blocked him.

Mom continued.

“For twenty years, Arthur Vance has operated Vance Global using ownership obtained through fraud. Today’s sale is based on stolen shares and concealed liabilities.”

Helen stared.

“Evelyn Vance is d/e/@/d.”

“No,” Mom said. “I was silenced.”

Daniel uploaded the evidence.

Patents.

Trust records.

Payment instructions.

The audio recording.

Arthur’s own voice filled the virtual meeting.

The board will believe whatever I tell them.

The directors sat frozen.

Then Mara appeared in another window.

“As forensic accountant for the emergency audit committee, I confirm that the documents match transactions in the company’s historical records.”

Helen removed her glasses.

“The sale vote is suspended.”

Charles Reddick cursed under his breath.

Arthur turned toward the exit.

The police officer moved into his path.

“I think you should stay, Mr. Vance.”

My father looked at me.

For the first time in my life, he seemed old.

“You believe you’ve won.”

“No,” I said. “I believe you finally lost control.”

His face hardened.

“You will regret humiliating this family.”

My mother stepped beside me.
